Parents
are responsible for their children; they have to
nurture, educate and direct them.
Among several
methods that exist, punishment has its own place. Although physical punishment is not a key element
in the educational process, it helps parents in
their task.
However,
parents must use this tool very carefully because
there is an invisible line between punishment that
helps both parents and children and punishment that
destroys their relationship.
I
know this from my own experience as a father.
Sometimes I have to implement a physical punishment
to my nine-year-old son when all other methods are
useless. I
remember when my father punished me. Now I can
understand his intentions and I realize that he
wanted the best for me. So, I think my son will
also understand me and forgive me for punishing
him.
