Toys
are part of all children's lives; they are special
for them. When I talk about toys, memories start
coming back to me; I start to remember when I
played with tops, canicos (little balls),
cards, soldier and cowboy puppets, and toy cars.
Most children in my country, Honduras, play with
tops and canicos since they are cheap. I
enjoyed playing with both every day when I was a
child.
I
spent every weekend playing with my friends;
sometimes I got into trouble with my mama because I
spent so much time playing and didn't do my
homework.
I
also remember that I liked dressing up like a
sheriff. I have a lot of photos of me wearing a
sheriff outfit on my birthday. I would have liked
to play with toy soldiers, cowboys, and cars, but
all those were more expensive, and my father only
bought me toys three times a yearfor my
birthday, on Children's Day, and for Christmas.
One
of the toys which I liked most, and which I still
remember, was a race car with its freeway. It was
really special!
Another
toy that was important for me was my bicycle. I
remember that time I got it like it was now. My
father came up to me and said,"Someone is looking
for you outside," but when I went there, nobody was
there, only a big truck. My father told his
employee to open the door. Then I saw my first
bicycle. It was blue and white. I thought it was
the best bike in the world. All those toys helped
me to have a great childhood.
