Schools
Combat Bullying

Bullying
is becoming a very serious problem in more and more
schools, so schools are starting antibullying
programs. In these programs, schools are trying to
create friendlier relations between students. They
try to teach students to respect each other.
They
know that bullies usually pick on people who are
different, so they are trying to teach students to
respect people who are a different race or people
who are just different in some way, such as
handicapped. I think schools also need to help
students who are bystanders to understand that
bullying is a problem and they need to help stop
it.
Recently
I read that thousands of students and teachers in
Michigan attended a conference about stopping
bullying. They all worked together and discussed
ways to stop bullying in their schools.
In
my opinion, this is a good way to try to change
bullies and get other students to help. These kinds
of conferences can help schools and students learn
how to deal with bullying. I think more activities
like this are needed!
School
programs and conferences like these are very
important because they can help bullies learn to
behave differently and they can also help prevent
school violence. We have to insist on doing them
because they are good ways to combat
bullying.
