Rhodes Rose Owens Calamay (Sticky Rice) Rose Owen from the Philippines Sticky rice is highly prized and is sold on the streets from the vendors. Filipinos here in Australia really get homesick at Christmas time as it is made at Christmas. The coconut used is freshly grated coconut which you cannot obtain here. I got it sent here by a friend. Ingredients: 1 pack glutinous rice flour 1 fresh coconut (grated) Method of preparing this special sticky rice: Mix a little water with the glutinous rice.. Mould it until it becomes sticky. Make it like a small pancake. In another pan, boil water. Wait until the water boils and drop the sticky rice pancakes one by one in boiling water. You know when they are cooked when they pop up in the water. Take them out and dry them with paper towels. Sprinkle with a little bit of sugar and plenty of coconut on both sides. An important hint for preparing it successfully : It's important to use freshly grated coconut.
